I have decided this year, that I am going to try and do more reading. I have never been a big fan at all, but I think that it would do me some good to just sit and try to read something other than getting bogged down in the television. I have decided that I would like to try and read five books this year. Of course, I will continue to read scripture and hopefully read more and understand more. I can honestly say that I have not been the greatest at spending time in the Word as much as I should.
The first book that I have completed is a very popular and somewhat controversial book called “The Shack” by William Paul Young. I had been talking to a co-worker a couple of days after Christmas and she said that she had been reading this book in which at the time I had never heard of it. Much to my surprise, that same night, my father and his girlfriend gave Ericcia and I this book.
”The Shack” really drew me in from the start and was such an easy read. It kept my attention and I was always looking forward to continue reading when I had the chance. There have been some mixed reviews about the book and some pastors have even preached completely against it. For those of you who know me, you know I’m not a wordsmith, so I’m not going to even attempt to try and give a big review…..all I’m going to say is I enjoyed the read and would recommend it to others. You can check out the website for the book at www.theshackbook.com .
The next book that I have started is “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch with Jeffery Zaslow.
I will have to check out that book. The Last Lecture is an excellent read!

Glad to know you’re trying for a little more culture this year. We’ll have to have a discussion about “The Shack”. I read it too and I have to say it was really different. It made me think about how I see God and how much I limit Him based on my mind’s image of Him. I haven’t read “The Last Lecture”. You’ll have to let me know what you think.

I haven’t read anything since JD died and stopped writing his article in the Singing news.
