Big News!

Ok…..I have had a few people tell me that I need to start a blog, so here goes!  This will probably be a very boring blog so it will be best to be read at times when you can’t sleep.

For those of you who have not heard, Ericcia (my wife of almost four years) and I are expecting our first child!  We have actually known this since about late March, but Ericcia would not let me break the news to anyone until the week after Mother’s Day.

The first few weeks of this thing was pretty miserable for Ericcia.  She has such a weak stomach as it is, and having a person growing inside of her does not help that situation at all.  She has had a pretty hard time taking her prenatal vitamins as well, due to the fact that she has a hard taking taking any type of pill.  Before the preg., she would have to take Flinstone chewable vitamins because she could not deal with the grown up types.

We had a hard time deciding how we were going to break the news to both families without hurting anyone’s feelings because they were not the first to know.  Technically, the first person to know other than us, was the lady at the book store where I purchased the ever popular “What to Expect when your Expecting”.  We told my mother first of the news the Sunday after Mother’s Day by giving her a “late Mother’s Day gift”.  We purchased an Exile cd, because I remember growing up that she absolutely LOVED them.  We then taped a couple of pictures from the ultrasound to the disc inside.  It took her a few minutes, but she finally opened it (after singing every song listed on the CD).  We will never forget her first words…….”OH NO!”………You see, we pretty much had everyone convinced that we really didn’t want kids.  So that was the reason for her first reaponse.  But we quickly assured her that this was a good thing and we were not disappointed whatsoever.

So we then had to tell all of Ericcia’s folks……..There was a birthday party planned for Ericcia’s nieces, Claire and Abby that same night.  Most of her immediate family was there, so it was the perfect opportunity.  We were about to eat and Ericcia asked if I would pray for the meal, and I did, while conveniently placing “and God bless the little baby that Ericcia and I are going to have in November…amen” at the end of the prayer.  Stupid me though….as normal, I was praying with my eyes closed and completely missed the facial expressions of everyone.

So anyhow, fast forward to now……not much really changed over the last month or so….Ericcia has only gained about 3 pounds and only showing just a little.  Our due date is November 9th, so we are about 18 weeks or so through.  She has hung tough over the last couple of months with fighting the every morning rush to the toilet to throw up, and pulling over on her way to work to throw up, or carrying a cup in the car to throw up in, which I had the pleasure to witness while driving home and nowhere to pull over on the interstate!  Nothing better than hearing your wife heave!  Just turn up the tunes.

Yesterday, we had our second appointment and ultrasound and we were informed that we will be having a baby girl!!!  We had quite a few requests for a boy, and we are sorry that we could not fulfill those requests.  I personally was kind of leaning towards a girl so I am tickled.  You see, if you know Ericcia and I, neither of us are very tall so a girl can get away with being short better than a boy…..trust me, I know!

I know this has been an extremely long post and I can assure you that most of the following posts will not be as lengthy and may not be only about the pregnancy.  There are times that I have some pretty interesting days being a mailman, so you maysee some topics about that and probably the only person that can understand most of the stuff I will be talking about will be Josh since he is a rural carrier.

Anyhow, PLEASE be in prayer for Ericcia and I.  We know this is God’s will and we lift our lives up to Him and allow Him to take control.

We also need some ideas for names…..I am thinking about having a contest……whoever’s name we pick can become our all-time babysitter!!!!!  Sounds like a great prize…….right?
